On August 16, 2024, Shuiyu Planning and Design Co., Ltd. and the Water Ecology Institute of the Yellow River Institute of Hydraulic Research (hereinafter referred to as “the Water Ecology Institute of YRI”) formally signed a cooperation agreement to jointly establish the “Research-Enterprise Exchange Center for River-Lake Health and Ecological Protection.” This initiative successfully built an innovative exchange platform that facilitates deep industry-research integration, complementary advantages, and coordinated efforts, contributing to the improvement and efficiency enhancement of river-lake ecological protection and governance, while actively implementing the national strategic plans for the construction of “Happy Rivers and Lakes” and the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin.
It is reported that the Research-Enterprise Exchange Center for River-Lake Health and Ecological Protection is guided by the core mission of “collaborative innovation, exchange empowerment, pragmatism and efficiency, and shared development.” Closely aligned with the goals of “safe rivers and calm lakes, clear water and abundant fish, green banks and scenic beauty, livable and business-friendly environments, and harmonious coexistence between people and water” for Happy Rivers and Lakes construction, the Center focuses on key areas such as river-lake health monitoring and assessment, R&D of water ecological restoration technologies, comprehensive water pollution control, and soil and water conservation and wetland protection. They will jointly tackle practical pain points and challenges in river-lake governance, promote the deep integration of research outcomes with engineering practice, and strive to build a virtuous cooperation cycle characterized by “research producing results, enterprises facilitating commercialization, and the industry benefiting from the outcomes.” At the same time, the Exchange Center will serve as an important vehicle for building a specialized technical exchange and talent development platform, promoting two-way exchanges and mutual learning between research talents and practical professionals, and supplying the water and environmental protection sector with interdisciplinary talents possessing both solid theoretical grounding and rich practical experience, thereby consolidating the talent foundation for high-quality industry development.
